Braces Can Help Adults with Unaddressed Alignment Issues to Have a Better Smile

The common cliché is that braces are reserved for children and adolescents with an awkward smile. In more recent times, more and more adults are embracing the idea of using braces to address past alignment issues that were not addressed in childhood. While others are interested in braces to correct changes in mouth structure resulting from age or past tooth extractions.

In fact, having a tooth extracted often results in a loss of structure that the surrounding teeth relate to. This can cause them to twist and start to migrate to fill the void. When your teeth no longer match perfectly with the other teeth in your bite pattern it makes them much more prone to developing chips and fractures.

An overbite or under-bite that was not addressed and corrected in childhood can sometimes lead to chips and fractures on adult teeth. This is even more likely to happen if you have issues with grinding your teeth on a regular basis. Without realignment by braces, this can lead to serious complications later on in life.

If you have alignment or other orthodontic issues with your teeth you should seriously consider braces. Please call A&A Orthodontics’s clinic in Avon, Sandusky and Wadsworth, Ohio at to see if you’re a good candidate for adult braces.
